An Assistant Inspector at Rimuka Police Station was pronounced dead at Kadoma General Hospital after he was found near RAM Service Station.
Kudzai Musarara was found with head injuries in the early hours on Friday.
Sources close to the case day the police are treating it as murder.
The cop was yesterday buried at his rural home in Guruve.
However, circumstances are still unclear on what led to his death.
