Rabble-rousing and award-winning Zimbabwe investigative journalist, Hopewell Chin’ono has refuted claims from national broadcaster, ZBC, insinuating that he acquired goats from the Zanu PF Government under the controversy-ridden Command Agriculture Scheme.
In a thread posted on his official Twitter handle, Chin’ono said he bought the goats with the money he got when he was working in South Africa.
Said Chin’ono:
“This is part of the propaganda news piece where they are LYING that I benefited from Command Agriculture! It is embarrassing that a Government would LIE that it gave something it never did! Terrorizing my workers and relatives at the village is the lowest of the low! Shameless“.
Chin’ono now wants to sue the public broadcaster for spreading falsehoods about his goat project in rural Murehwa.

“The regime’s broadcaster @ZBCNewsonline has broadcast a propaganda news piece LYING that Government gave me goats & land, IT NEVER DID They forced my housekeeper to speak on camera! I bought my goats with my money in South Africa from Wyksrus Stud based in Nigel near Joburg.
The regime is now on a war path creating LIES that it gave me land/goats which it never did! In the past I have ignored the lies but this time I have instructed my lawyer Beatrice Mtetwa to deal with case because the world needs to know what sort of dictatorship we are under!
It is despicable that a whole government would terrorize a citizen because he is practicing ethical journalism! It is even more sad that ZANUPF regime would go to my village terrorizing my workers and relatives because of my views and opinions. It is really shameful!
I have NEVER received a goat from the Government of Zimbabwe! I was never given a hectare of land by the Government of Zimbabwe as reported by the LYING @ZBCNewsonline I breed goats on a piece of land used by my grandfather and passed on to me by my father!
I have evidence of senior Government officials writing to me asking if they could buy goats from me. I am now consulting my lawyers!
