Zimbabwe’s former Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa may have resigned this morning, and even cleared his entire government offices of his belongings, long before the government’s information Minister announced his sacking, Khuluma Afrika can reveal.
According to sources, whose reports and facts have been verified, staff at the office of the Vice President, at the corner of Third Street and Central Avenue were instructed to pack all personal belongings and clear the building.
Earlier this morning, Zimbabwe awoke to news that the President, Robert Mugabe had convened a press conference where he sought to sack his deputy.
Mnangagwa did not attend the security briefing which was meant to be held at Mugabe’s private residence, having already tendered his resignation, although earlier information we got suggested that Mugabe had barred him from attending.
The meeting was subsequently cancelled after service chiefs boycotted in protest against what they believed was a resolution to sack Mnangagwa.
Mnangagwa apparently made the decision to resign after facing a barrage of insults from Grace Mugabe on Sunday. khuluma afrika
