Zimbabwe’s leading platinum giant, Mimosa Mine, recently donated tonnes of various food items and clothes to assist victims of Cyclone Dineo in Mberengwa and Zvishavane districts.
The food items include 20 tonnes of Maize, 5 tonnes of Sugar beans, 3 tonnes Matemba, 10 tonnes Chunks, 2 tonnes Potatoes, 2 tonnes Onions, 2 tonnes Cabbages, 1000 blankets and groceries for 240 families.
Mimosa Mine Chairman Mr Chitando speaking at the handover ceremony said as part of their social corporate responsibility they managed to source food stuffs for the cyclone victims in Mberengwa and Zvishavane as they are part of their society.
“We will stand shoulder to shoulder with the community, we will always do what we can when we can,” said the mining superior.
Guest speaker at the ceremony, Mines and Mining Development Walter Chidakwa thanked the platinum giant for honouring governement’s pledge to do social corporate responsibility.
“I always say companies do not have hearts or brains but it is the leaders good hearts that produces love, Mimosa leadership is no exception of good leaders as shown by their benevolence. We hope they will keep up with the spirit,” said the Minister.
Midlands Provincial Minister Jason Machaya speaking on the same note thanked Mimosa for their unwavering support.
“l salute you Mimosa team, in times of happiness you are always there also in times of need you are the first to assist. We have many mines including ….Murowa but you are always the first to offer assistance,” said Machaya.
The beneficiaries could not hide their joy as they expressed gratitude to Mimosa officials for remembering them in times of need.
