Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights’ bid to interdict Rio Zim from carrying out blasting activities at its Cam & Motor Mine in Kadoma until it relocates 32 residents was dismissed Thursday by Justice Joseph Mafusire,

The High Court judge ruled that there is an alternative remedy which is to approach Ministry Mines asking them for compensation & relocation.

On behalf of Kadoma residents, ZLHR had approached the courts seeking an interdict for the activities by the mine would be bad for their health.

Recently, a Kadoma hospital sued mining conglomerate RioZim for mining too close to the health facility, which has been reverberating with the sound of explosions from the Cam & Motar Mine and has seen flying rocks landing on the hospital’s roof and windows.
