ZIMRA and Zimbabwe government have quickly suspended importation ban law following chaos and protests by South African based buyers who challenged customs and immigration officials at Beitbridge border this weekend.

As of now Zimbabweans are not under any importation ban on basic commodities.

They also do not need any special permits to import basics like milk, sugar, soap, fertiliser, building material and many other household items as previously demanded by government.

A source at ZIMRA Beitbridge who spoke to zwnews.com on condition of anonymity told our reporters that authorities backtracked upon realising that they could trigger widespread political unrest as people are very desperate at the moment.

More on this to follow.
