The Zimbabwe national football team(The Warriors) will play against Cameroon and Ivory Coast first teams a week before the 2017 Gabon Africa Cup of Nations starts.

The Warriors have also arranged to camp for a week in Yaoundé, Cameroon, before taking the 2 hours road trip to Gabon for the Afcon football tournaments scheduled to start on 14 January, 2017.

Zimbabwe will be playing Senegal, Algeria and Tunisia in Group B.

Their fist match is against Algeria on 15 January in Franceville.

Ivory Coast and Cameroon will give Zimbabwe the best chance to asses their potential against group B soccer juggernauts.

Cameroon’s representative Mr  Joe Kamga confirmed the Zimbabwe friendly match via a letter to ZIFA;

“The conditions of the match will be as follows:

“We can invite you for four days/three nights, 32 persons in Cameroon in full board accommodation, local transportation, security, match logistics, visas etc,” Read part of the letter Kamga wrote to Zifa.

Zimbabwe will be hoping to make the most out of their underdogs status at the tournament.

The Zimbabwe Warriors have previously won their Afcon tournament group matches against Ghana and Algeria and are optimistic to cause some upset against well fancied teams in the 2017 Gabon finals.
