Thousands of Zimbabwe civil servants including nurses, doctors, teachers and other workers in different government departments will down tools and strike against failure by broke government to pay wages.

The industrial action will come after $100 government pay offer was rejected last week as it can not help the workers manage today’s cost of living.

Public service minister Supa Mandiwanzira pleaded with the angry workers telling them to ‘wait a little longer as the delay is beyond control of government’.

The army and police received their salaries last month while teachers and health professionals will get their pay this month, in July if government manages to source the funds.

Different workers’ unions have already given advance warnings that this coming week will see teachers, nurses and a number of other people in the government workforce not reporting for duty.

zwnews.com is reliably informed that the strike is likely to start on Tuesday if the government does not make any solid offer by tomorrow(Monday).
