Simmering tensions  recently exploded at a Zanu-PF Midlands province inter-district conference when Shurugwi South residents protested against Shurugwi South Legislator who doubles as Deputy Minister of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare, Tapiwanashe Matangaidze for neglecting his constituency as well as imposing candidates on various party positions.

The residents who are also Zimbabwe African National Union – Patriotic Front (ZANU-PF) members shunned the main agenda of the meeting and used vulgar language to ask why Matangaidze imposed Isaac Chibendera into office as a District Chairman instead of Winston Zhou who was democratically elected.

Residents also questioned why Chibendera was imposed into office when he clearly neglects his constituency.

One of the residents, George Mowa, expressed his discontent.

“Honestly, we were not expecting this kind of neglect from the MP.

“We last saw him here during his campaign spree in 2014.

“He hasn’t fulfilled his promises of providing us with tap water and repair our roads and bridges,” fumed Mowa.

When reached for comment Matangaidze dismissed the allegations as mere party chit chats.

This is not the first time Matangaidze has been involved in party skirmishes; in 2015 he missed a fist fight by a whisker with Gokwe-Kana legislator, Owen Mudha Ncube after Mudha accused him of fanning factionalism and creating tensions between Mnangagwa and First Lady Grace Mugabe.
