Tinashe Zisengwe

A 21 year old man who was angling in Mazowe dam recently is reported to have drowned while in the act.

Mashonaland Central Police Spokesperson Sergeant Stanford Muguni confirmed the death to the press.

Edmore Botomani allegedly met his fate on an unknown date, but in April last month whist fishing in the dam.

He was seen fishing whilst in the canoe by a fellow villager, Loice Chikumani (31) who was on her way to fetch some firewood.

Chikumani became suspicious upon her return when she passed through the same area, but could not locate the man, except the capsized canoe floating in the water.

She alerted other villagers about the incident who in turn reported the matter to the police in Mazowe who summoned the Sub Aqua Unit and the deceased’s body was retrieved.

Sergeant Mguni has urged the society to stop playing in and around water sources if they are unable to swim.
