Full time scores Senegal 2 Zimbabwe 0

match finished  ..log table below

91′ Not over for Zimbabwe, Only Senegal has a place in the next round in this group.  We have to do Algeria on Tunisia hopefully Musona will play full game. Billiat was not given much space by the physical west Africans.

90′ Malajila came in for Mushekwi at 84 minutes

87′ Mkuruva has been outstanding for Zimbabwe today!! It could have been worse.

82′ Another chance for Sow as he tries to fool Mukuruva but he stays tall and makes a comfortable save. The keeper then gets up and makes another terrific save from Keita with his legs, even if it was fairly tame as far as finishes go.

80′ We’re entering the final ten minutes and Senegal are still pushing for the third goal. They don’t really need it, as Saivet drags a shot wide, but I’m sure their fans wouldn’t say no.
77′ Chance! The ball is flicked on from the free-kick and Sow and Mane both go for overhead kicks and get in each other’s way.

76′ Slight panic in the ZImbabwe area as the ball starts bouncing awkwardly but luckily it comes to nothing. Katsande gives away another free-kick, incredibly he’s not been booked yet.

72′ Saves at both ends of the field! First Senegal get down the right and force a decent save out of Mukuruva and then Zimbabwe cancel and have their own effort through Mushekwi which Diallo has to be wise to stop, Billiat then curls another shot wide.
70′  M’Bengue get down the left but his low cross is cleared. In the follow-up he eventually gets caught offside.

69′ Mane is played through and wiggles around one challenge. He tries to nutmeg Mukuruva and the keeper does well to save. Mane then tries again but Nhamoinesu heads it off the line.

67′ Tis gone a bit flat.  Senegal are pretty comfortable.

65′ Kara is furious as Mushekwi goes down theatrically in the box. There’s no penalty but the ZImbabwe man is still down.

62′ Here it is, Diouf is off and  Moussa Sow is on.

60′ Nhamoinesu looks in a lot of pain on the floor with Diouf down as well. Senegal are preparing a change.

58′ That’s a good save. Senegal suddenly get a 2-1 on situation and Mane cross it in from the right to Diouf. Mukuruva gets out well and tackles Diouf.

54′ Big Save! 1 v 1 Mkuruva blocks Diouf effort

49′ A miss, Diouf’s left foot lets him down. Katsande loses the ball in midfield and Gana slips in Diouf but he fires his shot over after holding off the defender.

46′ We’re back and Matthew Rusike comes on for Evans Rusike,  Tendai Ndoro is on for Mahachi.

ZImbabwe are not a bad team by any stretch of the imagination. Yes they’re not as good as Senegal technically but they are a well-organised and tough to beat, as Algeria found out.

45′ that’s half-time with Senegal in total control. The question now is how many more could they get? Zimbabwe have had a couple of chances but nothing clear cut.

45′ It’s now half time break, Senegal 2 Zimbabwe 0

44′ CHANCE! That’s the best chance Zimbabwe have had as Billiat is through down the left hand side of the penalty area. However he can’t get any power from his shot and it’s straight at keeper Diallo

42′ Keita step over here, clever turn there, but his end product is wasted.

40′ Snap shot from Keita on the edge of the area but he drags his wide yet again.

37′ Slight concern for Senegal as Mane is down and Cisse is not happy on the sidelines with the treatment his star man is getting.

36′ Some decent possession from Zimbabwe on the edge of the Senegal box but they just can’t get a shot away.
34′ Terrific challenge from M’Bengue as he charges out to block down a shot.

33′ Frustrating for Billiat as he curls it over.

32′ Another good position for a free-kick after Kara and Gassama team up on Rusike, it’s definitely the latter’s fault.
31′ First booking of the game and it’s for the Senegal captain Kouyate. Comes crunching into a tackle in the centre of the pitch and gets too much of the man for the referee’s liking.
30′ Alas it is wasted as it goes way too deep.
29′ Decent chance for Zimbabwe as Billiat gets down the right and fizzes a cross in. Kara is in the right place and just about geets it away. Now Billiat has won a free-kick around 10 yards outside the box. He and Mahachi stand over it.
28′ Lovely from Mane as he chests a ball down and then turns Zvirekwi in knots. The Zimbabwe man is on his final warning now.

23′ Free-kick now to Senegal on the edge of the area following a terrific run from Mane, using his pace to burst past a couple of challenges.

21′ Zimbabwe have a corner now as Koulibaly has to be alert to put a cross behind but the set-piece comes to nothing.

16′ Another long ball over the top nearly sees Senegal in again. However this time Mukuruva shows remarkable composure to calmly pass the ball out of play under pressure. You don’t often see that.

14′ GOAL! SENEGAL 2-0 ZIMBABWE (SAIVET) Free-kick to Senegal now fairly central around 25-30 yards and it is hammered home by Saivet,

9′ GOAL! SENEGAL 1-0 ZIMBABWE (MANE)

Senegal win the ball back in midfield and Keita is slipped in down the left by Saivet.

7′ Senegal on the attack, Warriors need to step up things, a back pass nearly buried us

3′Corner for Senegal after first Kouyate and then Diouf get through Zimbabwe but the latter stalls and his cross is charged down.

1′ Senegal will be playing in their white kit whilst Zimbabwe are in green and we’re underway.

Talking Point: Zimbabwe talisman Knowledge Musona will not play due to injury, Dutch club Vitesse player, Marvelous Nakamba is back from suspension, could be in Kalisto Pasuwa’s eleven starting line-up.

Zimbabwe National Football Team, The Warriors,  will today, Thursday 19th of January, take on the Teranga Lions of Senegal in what promises to be another football thriller.

The Warriors impressed and sent a very strong message to critics when they matched and outplayed Algeria in the first half of last Sunday’s encounter at Stade de Franceville in Gabon.

This writer was vindicated for pointing out that Zimbabwe does not struggle against North African giants, from Morocco to Egypt, we have taken them to the cleaners at some point.

For Egyptians, the Zimbabwe encounter in an empty stadium in Lyon, France, is a living football nightmare they talk about up to now.

BUT we are pushovers against West Africans in important encounters.

Senegal will be the ultimate test in our Group B matches.

Unlike Algeria, they are very physical and skillful.

Very good in defence, very good in the air and very fast going forward.

This is the kind of team Pasuwa needs to hit first before they score against us.

With Seido Mane and Biram Diouf upfront, Senegal is a different cup of tea compared to Algeria.

Looking at the history of the two countries since 1985, Zimbabwe has won 4 encounters and lost 3.

But most matches were played before 2000 when Senegal was just a small country in football terms.

The Warriors can only count on the past record at their own peril because this is a different team altogether.

Will Khama Billiat do as much damage as Saido Mane, very possible but no guarantees.
