Caps United beat Egyptian giants, Zamalek 3-1 at the National Sports Stadium in Harare this afternoon to revive hopes of qualification to the quarter-finals of the CAF Champions League.

Needing an outright win, Ronald Pfumbidzai put the Green Machine ahead 30 minutes into the match, but Zamalek equalised just before half-time.

A second half brace from Abbas Amidu in the 75 and 90+3 minutes gave Caps United all the three points and a win in their last group match against USM Alger of Algeria next Sunday would be enough for a quarter-final berth for Caps.

USM Alger and Ali Ahli Tripoli of Libya drew 1-all on Friday and are tied on 8 points, meaning that Caps, who have 6 points, now need just 3 points from the game against USM Alger to qualify.

Two teams from each group qualify to the quarter-finals and Etoile du Sahel (Tunisia), Esperance (Tunisia) and Sundowns (South Africa) are already through.
