Zimbabwe hospitals are understaffed causing a severe strain on the few nurses who are working at different government hospitals.

With a patient to nurse ratio of 15 as to 1 there is need to reduce that to a near  ratio of 4 to 1 a senior government official has said.

As a result all unemployed nurses will be taken in to fill the gaps in the near future leaving room for 5 000 more who will come from nursing colleges.
