Zimbabwe is set to host Shelter Afrique 41st Annual General Meeting in Victoria Falls in June 2022.

This will see the Minister of Housing and Social Amenities Daniel Garwe being appointed the President of the AGM Bureau or General Assembly.

Meanwhile, Garwe has implored the government to adopt modern technologies to deal with the current housing backlog in the country.

“We can only clear that backlog if we adopt new technologies which ensure that we provide housing in the shortest possible time at very affordable levels in terms of the cost,” he says.

He was speaking after meeting with Shelter Afrique CEO Andrew Chimphondah in Harare.

Shelter Afrique is a Pan-African housing financier and development institution.

Garwe expressed gratitude that the organisation has promised to establish a housing factory in the country.

“I’m pleased to note that Shelter Afrique has also offered to establish a housing factory in Zimbabwe,” he said.

The country is battling a housing backlog of more than 1,2 million.
