ZIMBABWEAN forward, Macauley Bonne helped Charlton Athletic secure its seventh win of the season after scoring a brace in a 3-2 win over Bristol City yesterday.
Macauley Bonne was in top form for English championship side Charlton Athletic on boxing day.
Bonne opened the scoring for Charlton in the 40th minute after getting to the end of a ball from Abie Morgan before lobbing a drawn-out Daniel Bentley in goals for Bristol City.
Bristol then equalized courtesy of Andreas Weimann in the 46th minute before Niclas Eliasson thrust Bristol into a 2-1 lead in the 60th minute.
Macauley Bonne would then score a second in the 77th minute after shrugging off his marker inside the box before firing home with his left foot.
Charlton then grabbed a winner five minutes later courtesy of Alfie Doughty who ensured the hosts secured a 3-2 win over Bristol. The two goals saw Macauley Bonne take his goals tally to eight this season. The Charlton forward is eligible to turn out for the warriors after the issuance of his passport by the registrar general’s office in November.
Illness delayed Bonne’s first competitive Caf appearance but with Afcon qualifiers set to resume in 2020 Zimbabwean fans will eagerly be awaiting for Macauley Bonne to turn out for Zimbabwe.
