Zim Mighty Warriors Play Australia Today

After some tough matches between Zimbabwe and Germany-Canada, our ladies are expected to give their best as they take on the girls in gold and green.

The Matildas, as the Australian ladies line up is called are ranked 10th in the world.

As usual goals are expected to rain in the encounter.

Zimbabwe is already eliminated but will play an important part as Germany, Canada and Australia are still playing to finish in the top two in order to qualify for the knockout stages.

Here are the names of the Zimbabwe Mighty Warriors Squad

Kudakwashe Bhasopo, Eunice Chibanda, Chido Dzingirai, Erina Jeke, Daisy Kaitano, Rejoice Kapfumvuti, Lindiwe Magwede, Rutendo Makore, Sheila Makoto, Talent Mandaza, Emmaculate Msipa, Lynett Mutokuto, Felistas Muzongondi, Rudo Neshamba, Marjory Nyaumwe, Samkelisiwe Zulu, Mavis Chirandu, Nobuhle Majika.

The Zimbabwean side has received a lot of praise and support from home fans who have been pleased with the ‘game spirit’ despite heavy losses.

However there is a small section of supporters who feel that there should not be any excuse for losing against the world’s top ranked sides.

To counter this negativity some have pointed to the performance of the much loved Dream Team of Fabisch who never qualified for any major tournament.

They even got eliminated by a poor Cameroon that went on to get a 6-1 hammering from low ranked Russia at the 1994 World Cup Finals in US.

Whatever opinion people have of these ladies, they have done well given lack of resources and the fact that the entire team including coaches is made up of amateurs and part timers who have full time occupations in non sporting disciplines.

Following Zimbabwe’s 1-6 loss to Germany in the opening match, FIFA congratulated Zimbabwe for showing resilience and playing beyond expectations.
