Reports coming through are that there has been no electricity at Roy Tollgate along Mutare-Masvingo Road for more than 2 weeks.

The place is very dark and workers are using lamps at night with fears looming that robbers might take advantage or even corruption from staff who would use the darkness as a blanket.

Meanwhile, the country has been running on power deficit for years now owing to a number of factors, including reduced power generation due to antiquated equipment.

Recently, the power utility warned of reduced electricity owing to breakdowns at Hwange Power Station, this left a number or areas in the dark.

Apparently, the Zimbabwe National Road Authority has been accused of rampant corruption, a move that has hampered service delivery.
