The Zimbabwe United Passenger Company (ZUPCO) has appointed Tineyi Rwasoka as the new acting chief executive officer (CEO).

Rwasoka replaced Everisto Madangwa, who has reportedly been reassigned to the position of finance director.

Madangwa had served as acting CEO for more than five years, a period when the state-owned company monopolised the public transport sector but dismally failed to deliver.

An internal communication to staff dated 18 January 2023, ZUPCO human resources manager Moses Mawire said Rwasoka’s appointment is with immediate effect. Reads the memo:

All employees are hereby advised of the following changes to management which are effective immediately.

Tineyi Rwasoka has been appointed to the position of acting chief executive officer.

Linda Samunderu has been appointed to the position of acting operations director.

May we all render our support to the two in the discharge of their new mandates.
