ROME: POPE Francis has slapped a female worshipper in an attempt to free his arm from her grip during a visit to St Peter’s Square.
In the video that has since gone viral, he is seen repeatedly pulling his hand away as people try to kiss his papal ring during a visit to an Italian pilgrimage site.
The incident happened on New Years eve.
The Catholic leader has since apologised for his actions.
