Celebrated Zimbabwe singer and songwriter Jah Prayzah has been attacked by Zanu PF education minister Jonathan Moyo over his Mudhara Vachauya song.
According to Moyo, “ Mudhara wacho ishumba inoruma[Big man is a lion that bites] has become a successionist anthem.”
It has been widely suggested on social media and public forums that the Shumba(lion) being referred to in the song is non other than Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
Moyo’s rant suggests that he sees Mnangagwa’s name all over the song.
Mnangagwa belongs top the Shumba totem and is a fierce rival to Moyo’s G40 faction.
He is believed by many to be a front runner in the race to succeed President Robert Mugabe who is expected to leave office very soon.
But Moyo suggests that there is no place for Mnangagwa at State House.
While referring to Jah Prayzah song Moyo made it clear that Mugabe is still a factor in Zanu PF leadership and politics;
“Mudhara achauya ehehehe. Achauya achibva kupi? Mudhara aripo wani imiwe. Mudhara ndiGushungo(Mugabe) chete chete[Where is this Big man you are talking about, where is the Lion man coming from, he is already here, the Big man is Mugabe Gushungo only, only],” said Moyo.
Moyo went on to say that there is strong interplay between politics and music and suggested that Mudhara Vachauya has been hijacked by secessionists in Mnangagwa’s Team Lacoste faction.
