Team Lacoste ‘Presiden’t Emmerson Mnangagwa shocked onlookers when he knelt before another church leader in what observers believe to be a desperate search for power.

The man whose faction has been riding high in few days gone by might have gone there to praise the heavens following chaotic scenes in a rival faction that has also been on the rise at his expense.

After getting blessings and intercessory prayers from a Bulawayo Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Cowdray Park, Mnangagwa went on to donate goods worth $10 000 to the underprivileged before officiating at a $12 million mall groundbreaking ceremony in the same suburb.

The donations are courtesy of Sai Enterprises. The Vice-President attended the mass on the invitation of the Holy Trinity priest Father Gilbert Moyo, who facilited in the day’s programme.

Mnangagwa who is often viewed as a tough taskmaster has a confusing personality and rarely speaks to reveal what is in his inner thoughts.

Many might now rightly confuse the hardman for a soft alter boy who identifies with the country’s church community.

Apart from assisting the Roman Catholic Church on Sunday the 9th, Mnangagwa also visited and helped poor people in Salvation Army, Lutheran Church and Brethren in Christ Churches during his Bulawayo visit.

Mnangagwa’s visit comes at a time when he is facing the biggest challenge of his long political career in the form of First Lady Grace Mugabe who is believed to be preparing to take over the presidency when her husband retires.
