1-1;Africa Cup of Nations: Zim Warriors draw with Cameroun one-one in Yaounde, Afcon soccer  friendly

Warriors score first, Cameroon gets equaliser with  spot kick, Zimbabwe had second clear goal disallowed for offside

 

The Zimbabwe National Team, the warriors, have stood toe to toe with the lions of Cameroun in an international friendly played in Yaounde today.

It was not a surprise when the brave warriors of Zimbabwe opened the scoreline with a Tendai Ndoro strike, the forward had the easy task of coming face to face with Cameroon goalkeeper.

The warriors were praised at half time by Cameroon commentary team who made it clear that Zimbabwe is not a pushover looking at how they had the ball in their pockets until when the indomitable lions were awarded a penalty following a challenge in the penalty box.

Cameroon placed the ball on the far side as Makuruva dived the other way.

Zimbabwe had an injury worry towards the end of first half when defender Hardlife Zvirekwi needed treatment on the pitch.

The warriors started the second half with pace and intent, Tendai Ndoro being the attacking point for the team. zwnews.com .But Cameroon responded with dangerous counter attacks that were dealt with effectively by the defensive trio of  Zvirekwi, Bhasera and Nhamoinesu.

Zimbabwe did a good job given that a number of players play in lowly South African and Zimbabwe leagues.

Cameroon tried a new approach with a double substitution in the 63 minute, But Zimbabwe ready the plan and also brought in Khama Billiat and Itai Mushekwi to give the hosts more problems to work on in the 66th minute.

Pasuwa brought in Oscar Machapa for Hardlife Zvirekwi in 70th minute but almost conceded when Cameroon took a dangerous free kick in 71 minutes that was pushed over bar by Mukuruva.

Matthew Rusike came in for Evans Rusike with 15 minutes left on the clock  to deal with the host’s long deeping shots into the box as Cameroon sought to end the contest on a bang.

Mukuruva had to make the save of the match in 82 minutes as the lions started to dictate pace as they smelled blood in the closing stages of the match.

Makuruva spread himself to frustrate Cameroon effort as Zimbabwe reorganised against the lions.

The warriors almost did the unthinkable when they nearly scored in the closing stage of the match BUT missed a glorious chance ending the match one -one at fulltime whistle..zwnews.com
