9-Year Old Chivhu Girl Raped On Way From School

In an incident that smacks of barefaced heartlessness on the part of the perpetrator, a 9-year old girl from Marimba Village under Chief Dheke in Chivhu was raped by an unknown person on Tuesday as she walked back from school.

While confirming the sad incident to the regional Mirror newspaper, Mashonaland East Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) Assistant Spokesperson Misheck Denhere appealed for information that can lead to the arrest of the culprit.

Denhere revealed that on June 14, 2022 at around 4pm the juvenile met the accused as she walked back from school.

It is reported that the accused rapist grabbed the complainant and dragged her into the bush where he threatened to stab the little girl with a knife in the event that she refused to take his orders.

He then raped the complainant once and left the juvenile at the scene, the Mirror reported.

The matter was then reported to ZRP Dema after the girl had narrated the ordeal to her mother. Subsequently, the victim was then medically examined at Chitungwiza General Hospital, police said.

Investigation are still in progress and we are appealing for information that can lead to the arrest of the accused persons,” Denhere said.

He also added saying:

We encourage school children to walk in groups and parents to accompany their kids to school especially ECD pupils”.
