Glen View Area 8 home industry complex traders were yesterday left with more questions than answers after waking up to see their wares destroyed by an inferno.

The inferno occurred at the complex along Willowvale Road on Monday night for the umpteenth time destroying millions of properties belonging to informal traders.

Among the questions asked by the traders is whether the area is ‘haunted’ as the occurrence of the fire outbreaks was mysterious.

The source of the fire remains a mystery, but most traders were pinpointing to an electrical fault.

Coincidentally, the last time the complex was gutted by fire was also on a Monday, 11 March.
In a telephone interview, a trader, Innocent Gumbochena said the area is haunted.

“There is need for spiritual cleansing at this place. The fire outbreaks are not by mere coincidence. They rotate places to destroy last time it was the bottom end and now the upper side.

According to him, property destroyed include among others wardrobes, beds, sofas and kitchen cupboards.

“The cycle has been going on like that for the past years. Some apostolic sects a few years ago said the place was haunted,” he said.

Last year, the complex was burnt at least three times and still the source of the fire could not be established with some suspecting internal fights within informal traders to be the cause.

The latest fire reportedly started at around 5pm and traders battled to put it out and salvage some of their wares.
