The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) in Bulawayo is investigating circumstances surrounding a case of theft from a motor vehicle which occurred on 6 June 2021 at the junction of 2nd Avenue and Lobengula Street in Bulawayo.

ZRP says the suspect (37) appeared to be a good Samaritan, but later turned to be a criminal, after offering to help the victim who was involved in a minor road traffic accident and later stole ZAR 190 000 cash which was in the victim’s motor vehicle.

In another case, a Mberengwa man (23) committed suicide by hanging after he murdered his girlfriend over an unknown issue, and investigations are said to be currently underway.

In yet another matter, members of the public have been urged to solve their disputes amicably and not resort to violence. This follows after police in Fort Rixon arrested 4 suspects in connection with a murder case which occurred on 8 June 2021 at Lambisto night club, Shangani business centre in Fort Rixon.

The victim (27) had an altercation over an unknown reason with one of the patrons at Lambisto Night Club whom he struck with an axe on the head.

The suspects intervened and struck the victim several times on the head with an axe, brick, spanner and an empty beer bottle.

Apparently, ZRP has also confirmed the death of 3 people and injury of 6 others following an accident which occurred at the 94km peg along Harare-Chirundu Road on 8 June 2021.

The accident happened after a motorist driving a Honda fit motor vehicle side swiped with another motorist driving a haulage truck Scania 420 which was proceeding on the opposite direction. The Honda fit veered off the road and rested on its wheels in a ditch.

The names of the deceased are yet to be identified and the bodies are at Banket Hospital for post mortem while the injured are admitted at the same hospital.
