Robert Mugabe Junior, the son of the late Zimbabwean leader, allegedly accused his friend’s gardener of urinating on the wheels of his car on Sunday morning.
Following the argument, Mugabe reportedly vandalized high-end cars and property at his friend Sindiso Nkathazo’s home in Strathaven, causing damages worth more than R200,000.
Mugabe spent the night at the Avondale police station in Harare and appeared in court on Monday to face a charge of malicious damage to property.
According to the police report, Mugabe’s initial argument with the gardener escalated into a fit of rage, resulting in broken windshields, damaged windows, and household electrical gadgets.
Mugabe’s lawyer, Ashiel Mugiya, said that while the National Prosecuting Authority offered to negotiate, charges were not dropped.
A video of Mugabe appearing at the court went viral yesterday morning.
