The United Nations Resident Coordinator and Humanitarian Coordinator in Zimbabwe Edward Kallon met Citizens Coalition for Change CCC president Nelson Chamisa yesterday to deliberate on the promotion of peace ahead of the much anticipated polls set for sometime this year.
“@UNZimbabwe Chief @Edward Kallon met @nelsonchamisa @CCCZimbabwe leader this morning & discussed to promote peace in #Zimbabwe before, during & after the upcoming harmonized elections,” said the UN Chief’s office.
Zimbabwe has been known for conducting flawed elections characterised by reports of politically motivated violence and vote rigging.
Over the years, some people have been attacked or have had their homes set on fire by alleged ZANU PF members who claimed that nothing would be done to them.
Apparently, both Chamisa and President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa are on record calling for peaceful polls.
