Se_xual relations between relatives is considered taboo in most cultures and even a criminal offence in Zimbabwe, but this did not stop a 45-year-old man from having s_ex with his 16-year-old niece.
The shenanigans came to light after the two lovebirds were caught in act by the uncle’s wife whose attention was drawn by the loud screams coming from her bedroom.
Out of panic, the niece claimed that she had been raped and fearing for his life the husband pleaded with his wife for mercy and was given a reprieve.
However, a few days later the wife caught them in the same act and in fury the wife reported the matter to the police for investigation where it was discovered that the two were lovers.
“Upon investigations it was discovered that the pair were in love and the niece admitted to the investigators that they were in love,” said the source.
In court, the teenager confessed that she initially screamed rape because had the affair been exposed it would have ruined her reputation.
“I felt the incident was going to tarnish my reputation in the community and my peers were going to poke fun at me. And also I feared my aunt would chuck me out of her homestead,”she said.
The two love birds will be sentenced on 24 April.
