A leadership school funded and built by the Chinese Communist Party to train political party officials in southern Africa has opened in Tanzania, as part of Beijing’s efforts to export its model of governance.
The Mwalimu Julius Nyerere Leadership School in Tanzania was built and funded to the tune of US$40 million by the Chinese ruling party.
Meanwhile, ZANU PF leaders will be among the first students to undergo political training in Tanzania at the leadership school.
Some Chinese officials have in the past privately lamented the calibre of Zanu PF leaders, especially on economic stewardship.
The US$40m Mwalimu Julius Nyerere Leadership School, opened last Wednesday, is meant to impart Chinese “governance expertise” on Africa’s former liberation movements.
