South African rapper Kiernan Forbes, popularly known as AKA, was shot and killed on Friday night in Durban.

The ANC in KwaZulu-Natal said that the killer is well-known in the local community and called for anyone with information to come forward. The ANC also urged the police to act firmly and decisively to protect lives and property in the area.

The Ethekwini mayor and the EFF also issued statements condemning the killing and expressing condolences to Forbes’ family, friends, and fans. The EFF called for the speedy apprehension of those responsible and for the crime rate in South Africa to be addressed.
