Zimbabwe authorities have launched a manhunt for a Bulawayo based married policeman who killed his girlfriend and fled.
Brighton Chagonda (30) of Luveve Police Station was supposed to appear in court yesterday but was nowhere to be seen as he is now on the run.
Chagonda allegedly killed his girlfriend Sithabile Ndlovu-Ncube before he dumped her body in a storm drain on August 19, 2013.
Ndlovu-Ncube was also married at the time of her death.
She died in August 2013 following a disagreement with Chagonda at Cowdray Park, Bulawayo.
At his last court appearance, Bulawayo High Court judge Justice Lawrence Kamocha remanded Chagonda out of custody on $500 bail.
He set stringent conditions, which included reporting to the police thrice a week and to reside at the same camp which he gave as his address.
The judge also ordered Chagonda to surrender his travel documents to the Assistant Registrar of the High Court and not to interfere with witnesses.
The matter has since been struck off the roll.
Unconfirmed reports suggest that Chagonda might have fled to neighbouring countries, most likely, Mozambique where he has connections.
