The Zimbabwe National Water Authority says it has placed communities downstream Tugwi Mukosi dam on high alert as the country’s largest inland dam has started to spill.

As of 16 January 2022 water levels in Tugwi-Mukosi, had risen to 99. 7% with the dam expected to fill up and start spilling in the hours that followed.

Apparently, ZINWA pointed out that the spills are expected to increase as more and more inflows trickle in.

Meanwhile, according to the Meteological Services Department the current wet spell is expected to continue for some time.

The Southern African region is expecting normal to above normal rainfall this season.
