Zimbabwe has been knocked out of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations.

The Warriors who started the Gabon Afcon 2017 campaign with a thrilling 2-2 draw with Algeria lost 4-2 to Tunisia who will now meet Burkina Faso in quarter finals  as Group B runners up.

Tunisia imposed themselves early in the game and scored 4 quick goals to kill the game as a contest before half time.

It went wrong early in the match for Zimbabwe when  Khazri tested Zimbabwe’s keeper with a free-kick which was parried out for a corner.

The corner was blocked and fell to the feet of Sliti whose low drive from distance took two deflections and nestled in the back of the net to give Tunisia the lead in 9 minutes.
Another goal came in 22 minutes when Msekni traded passes with Slithi before rifling a low shot from inside the box through keeper Tatenda Makuruva’s legs.
Marvelous Nakamba tried to bring Zimbabwe back in contention with a 25 metres drive that missed the left upright, But Tunisia were three up when Naguez’s low ball into the box was  pushed  in the near post by Khenissi.
Zimbabwe talisman Knowledge Musona made an impression in 42 minutes when he scored following a terrific ball control on his chest that he flicked through two defenders before smashing a belter to make it 1-3.
It looked like things were about to change for the better then Kalisto Pasuwa’s men were dealt a blow when Tunisia scored a penalty to make it 4 before break.
This came after Costa Nhamoinesu was penalised for having his arm all over Khenissi while chasing a long ball in the 18 area.
Zimbabwe scored their second goal with substitute Tendai Ndoro who came in for Danny Phiri but it did not help much as the North Africans gradually slowed the match and progressed to the next round at the expense of the Warriors and Algeria who played a 2 all draw with Senegal in the other Group B match.
Knowledge Musona was Zimbabwe’s most outstanding player.
Going forward: Zimbabweans should not trash this team, they played against the best and did their best.  A win against Algeria could not have helped.  The final results look bad BUT the team played above and beyond expectations.
Thank You Zim Warriors!!! zwnews.com
