Vandalism such as tower member theft, meter tampering/ bypassing, or intentional damage to electrical structures can lead to unplanned outages, says the country’s power utility.
The Zimbabwe Electricity Supply Authority (ZESA) says vandalism is not only illegal but can also lead to injuries or fatalities.
The call by ZESA comes at the time the country is facing energy crisis.
In Harare some areas have gone for days without electricity, a situation that has put intenet based communications into crisis.
ZESA has since warned of power outages in the capital due to faults and maintenance works.
