Onthefatefulevening,AKAwasreportedly standingonapavementinMorningside,Durban,whenthesoundofgunfiresuddenlyshatteredthepeaceofthenight.
KwaZulu–Natalpolicespokesperson,RobertNetshiunda,confirmedthatthe35 year old was shot togetherwithhisbodyguard,aged34,atthelocation.
Itisbelievedthattheywereleavingarestaurantwhentwounknownassailantsemergedfromacrossthestreet,andopenedfireonthem,terminatingtheirlivesinasinglemoment.
Fortunately,nooneelsewasinjuredintheincident.
Investigationsareunderwaytoapprehendtheperpetratorsandbringthemtojustice.
Beforehisdemise,AKAhadrecentlycelebratedhis35thbirthday,andwasenroutetotheAKASupaMegaBirthdayCelebrationatYugoDurbanwhenthetragedyoccurred.
Consequently,theeventwascancelledduetotheunforeseencircumstances.

Some believe this was linked to the tragic death of his late fiancee Anele “Nellie” Tembe.
Nellie Tembe allegedly committed suicide on the 11th of April 2021 by jumping off from the tenth floor of the Pepper Club in Cape Town.
When Nellie Tembe passed away, scores of people blamed AKA for her death as they believed he might have had a hand in her death. Her father, Moses Tembe, even debunked claims that his daughter was suicidal.
