There was pandemonium yesterday at the Apostolic Faith Mission (AFM) church as members protested against the new pastor.
Congregants from the AFM Domboramwari Assembly were up in arms protesting in church holding placards as they rejected the introduction of a new pastor.
According to H-Metro, the provincial church leader Pastor Hungwe, was forced to leave the pulpit as he was introducing the new pastor who had been selected to replace their former cleric Pastor Pride Chazika.
“We serve a God of seasons. Today I have come to announce a message from the provincial headquarters about a new pastor who will take you through this season,” said Pastor Hungwe
In that spur of the moment, the church members immediately started protesting, holding their placards as they rejected the new Pastor and his wife who were waiting to meet their new congregation.
They didn’t even allow Pastor Hungwe to finish with the introductions as they declared that they want Pastor Chazika back.
“We want Chazika. Leave politics to politicians, kana vafundisi venyu vasina mabasa, ngavatsvage mabasa,” read one of the placards.
One of the church members declared that they don’t want church politics and spoke against autocracy.
“We want our pastor back; stop that autocracy. We do not want church politics here, deal with issues facing you without involving us.”
Pastor Chazika who has been with the church for two years was reassigned to Stoneridge as punishment for reprimanding one of the church board members’ wife.
Church members are not happy with the way he was humiliated and forced to leave.
