Reports have it that thousands of dollars worth of property was destroyed after machete gangs clashed at Etna Mine in Kadoma.

A number of cars, wooden cabins and huts were torched while many people were left nursing serious machete wounds.

Tuckshops were also looted as the rival gangs turned the place into a wad zone.

The fight started on Friday after a disputed snooker match.

The disagreement degenerated into a fight in which one of the gang leaders was assaulted.

He later came with his gang, this time wielding machetes and other traditional weapons.

After assaulting many people leaving some of them with gaping wounds the fight seemed to be over only to resurface days later burning property.

There were also reports of gunshots. Police intervention seems to have failed to yield results and the residents were living in fear prior to the arrests.

So deep was the fear that even those who lost property were afraid of mentioning the names of the perpetrators to anyone including the police.
