Police in Mutare have arrested Rutendo Clive Chikoti (30) a suspected armed robber and recovered 10 smart television sets, a DVD player, two large speakers, seven gas tanks, 27 cellphones and a drill.
Manicaland Police spokesperson Inspector Nobert Muzondo confirmed the arrest of Chikoti of no fixed abode on Monday and said he terrorised Chikanga and Sakubva suburbs.
He also stated that Chikoti was on Police’s wanted list for nine cases of house breaking and he was arrested after a tip off from residents. A pistol and a bolt cutter used in the house breaking were recovered.
“On the March 13, 2023, Police detectives received a tip off that the suspect they were looking for was hiding in Sakubva. He was arrested for three cases of armed robbery in which he used a pistol. Police was looking for him in connection with nine cases of house breaking.
“The detectives have managed to recover 10 smart television sets, a DVD player, two large speakers, seven gas tanks, a drill and 27 cellphones,” said Muzondo.
He also appealed to members of the public with stolen properties to come and identify some of the recovered properties at Mutare Central Police station.
