From pan into the fire, after generating an already low 319MW of electricity last week, Hwange power station is today producing a just 175MW, a fifth of its installed capacity.
Apparently, at Kariba hydro, output is also critically low due to ongoing maintenance works.
Meanwhile, the Zimbabwe Electricity Transmission and Distribution Company recently warned of curtailed power generation.
The power utility said the country will have to do with less electricity while load shedding is expected to increase.
Apparently, companies have been some of the worst affected, with some resorting to using generators thereby increasing the cost of doing business.
Zimbabwe imports power from South Africa, Mozambique and Zambia, however this is not without own challenges and hiccups.
