Following General Constantine Chiwenga’s decision to challenge Mugabe’s mistreatment of former Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa, Zanu PF has fired back at the army stating that the military boss is guilty of mishandling $15billion in diamond revenues.
ZANU PF Youth League leader, Kudzai Chipanga, in a statement said Chiwenga together with Mnangagwa must account for the missing money as they presided over revenue from the country’s diamonds.
Chipanga was speaking in a hurriedly arranged press statement in Harare early today, Tuesday, 14th of November, 2017.
Yesterday the Zimbabwe army boss Constantine Chiwenga shook Mugabe allies and officials in the ruling Zanu-PF party when he said the military will not allow anyone who was not part of “us” to re-write the country’s history.
Chiwenga said if this happens, the military will interject and stop the process.
Chiwenga’s statement is perceived as a direct challenge to Mugabe’s decision to dismiss his long time right hand person Emmerson Mnangagwa.
In his statement, Chiwenga said the wanton dismissal of party members must be stopped with immediate effect.
Mugabe is yet to respond to Chiwenga’s coup threats.
