Yesterday, the Borrowdale man accused of raping a teenage job-seeker four times in one night appeared in court and was not asked to enter a plea.
Herbert Madhume was before Harare magistrate Stanford Mambanje and has been remanded in custody until April 5 to allow for further investigations.
He was advised to apply for bail at the High Court. According to reports, Madhume had hired the teenager as a maid and sent her mobile money for transport to Harare from Chipinge on March 8.
However, upon her arrival, she discovered that Madhume lived in a one-room dwelling and was deceived into believing she would be staying alone.
During the night, Madhume allegedly raped her four times while she slept on the floor.
She reported the matter to her aunt who accompanied her to the police, resulting in Madhume’s arrest.
