Latest: The Confederation of African Football have not yet set a date for the CAF Champions League group stage draw, with Zimbabwe’s Caps United waiting to find out their opponent.
Zimbabwe’s 2017 CAF Champions League football representative Caps United and other teams will go into the pot at an event slated for tomorrow, Tuesday, 21 March, 11.am Zimbabwean time at the CAF eadquarters in Cairo, Egypt.
Makepekepe on Sunday quenched Zimbabwe’s thirst for group stage football in the CAF Champions League after a nil-all draw against TP Mazembe of DRC saw them qualifying on away goals rule after the first leg finished 1-all.
Caps United will be among four teams from the COSAFA region alongside South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns, Zambia’s ZANACO and Club Ferroviaro of Mozambique in tomorrow’s draw.
North africa will however have the most number of teams in the group phase.
Egypt will be represented by Al Ahly and Zamalek, and Tunisia has Etoile Sportive du Sahel and Esperance.
USM Alger of Algeria, Al Ahly Triploi of Libya and Wydad Casablanca of Morocco are also part of clubs from North Africa in the draw.
AS Vita of DRC will also take part.
Cotton Sport of Cameroon is the only side representing West Africa.
Saint George of Ethiopia, Sudan’s Al Hilal and Al Merreikh are the other teams that will be among teams that will be placed into four groups of four teams on Tuesday.
