Bona Nyepudzai Mugabe, the daughter of former President Robert Mugabe, and her estranged husband Simba Chikore are headed towards a contentious divorce.
Chikore has disputed Bona’s divorce petition, indicating that a potentially bitter and emotionally charged legal battle may ensue.
The case was initially filed under HC 1521/2023, but Chikore’s challenge now means that it will be treated as a contested divorce.
The couple had been married for nine years but had been living apart for over nine months, with Bona moving out of their Mount Pleasant home and returning to her parents’ residence at Blue Roof in Borrowdale.
Chikore’s legal team at Matsikidze Attorneys-At-Law has submitted an appearance to defend the divorce summons.
