A Gweru court has granted liberty to a Guinea Fowl High School teacher who recently hit headlines over allegations of fondling a pupil’s breasts in his car.
Adam Tichaona Gwatiringa was acquitted a day before yesterday when he appeared before Gweru magistrate Shotgame Musaiona who found him not guilty.
His lawyer Claudius Makwara of Gundu and Dube Legal practitioners as part of the defense said if the pupil allegations are true that there were people at the scene of rape why did she not scream.
The defense council added that since the car was close by the people would have noticed what was transpiring.
It is the state’s case that sometime last month Adam went with the pupil for school business in Gweru CBD, while on their way back to school; the teacher suddenly diverted his route along Mvuma road and drove to an unknown place where he started fondling the girl.
Gwatiringa allegedly fondled the girl’s breasts and bought her goodies so that the pupil remains mum.
However, the pupil failed to stomach living with such memories and narrated the ordeal to her parents who then proceeded to report the matter to the police leading to the teacher’s arrest.
