The Zimbabwe Republic Police ZRP has explained the presence of police officers at polling stations and assisted voters.
ZRP spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi says the police details are deployed at polling stations in order to maintain law and order in terms of the country’s statutes.
He says police officers will not help assisted voters, but will just maintain presence while a Presiding Officer and Zimbabwe Electoral Commission employees assist the needy voter.
