A Zimbabwean man has been taken into custody in South Africa after he was caught trading diamonds to an undercover police officer.
35-year-old Hardlife Bhebhura was found with 123 carats of gems worth R1.7 million.
The Hawks nabbed the Zimbabwean man and another person named as 49-year-old Rodrigues Jose Jorge in Springbok.
Police discovered an illegal enterprise operating through runners from Springbok, Port Nolloth and Steinkopf.
The suspects appeared on Monday, 23 January, before the Springbok Magistrates Court and were remanded to February 1.
Bhebhura was remanded in custody while his partner in crime was given bail.
