Zimbabwe Mighty Warriors bravely defended against a Germany onslaught for the better part of the game before they fell to late goals as the match closed.
As expected Zimbabwe defended in the opening stages and managed to keep it nil all until when Germany scored a header from a corner kick in the 23 minute.
The Zimbabwe ladies then fell behind by 2 goals when another shot into the 18 area led to a headed goal.
Zimbabwe scored a brilliant goal in the second half following a long drive from outside the box that was parried away by German goalkeeper for the Mighty Warriors to pounce a priceless Olympics goal.
The goal was celebrated like a score in the finals.
Unfamiliarity with the pitch texture and high speed European football then exposed Zimbabwe women who succumbed to a blitzkrieg of 6 goals including a spot kick that was saved before a rebound was put into the nets.
In the end there was not much disappointment in the Zimbabwe camp.
They played well and gave their best.
