Zimbabwe Warriors lose Namibia match

Zimbabwe Warriors suffered another defeat in a space of three days when they lost 3-1 to Namibia in the 2017 Dr Hage Geingob Cup.

Coach Wilson Mutekede failed to get a win in both assignments he took charge.

Zimbabwe needed to win the match in order to make mends from the 1-0 loss in Lesotho on Wednesday. A brace from Hendrick Somaeb and another one from Peter Shalulile was what Namibia needed to beat Zimbabwe.

The visitors were still trying to settle when Somaeb struck home 11 minutes in to the game. Seven minutes later,  Shalulile doubled the lead and this prompted coach Mutekede to quickly make a double substitution.

The Warriors got a penalty in the 37th minute and Tendai Ndoro brought some little hope when he converted it. Two minutes later, Namibia had a glorious chance when Somaeb sent his effort over the bar with the keeper to beat.

However, he completed his brace three minutes later  from the spot and restored Namibia’s  two goal advantage before half time.

The second half saw little action as the hosts seemed comfortable with the lead. Mutekede’s charges failed to penetrate the the Brave Warriors’ defense and frustration started to mount.

The score line remained unchanged at the end of 90 min and the hosts retained home the  Dr Hage Geingob Cup. soccer 24
