Zimbabwe Independence Day Celebration 18 April 2016, Mugabe to Give Speech: Pictures

Todai 18 April 2016 is Zimbabwe Independence Celebrations National Sports Stadium

President Robert Gabriel Mugabe will give a speech today marking the 36th anniversary of Zimbabwe’s independence from Britain.

The celebrations will come at a time when Zimbabwe is going through a very tough time.

Financial and economic meltdown has affected every inch of the day to day living of ordinary people and the country’s ailing industries.

Mugabe’s speech is expected to rally people to stand firm in the wake of these trying challenges. He may also touch on how economic sanctions have damaged the country.

There will be many other celebrations in different parts of the country and in diaspora communities scatters around the globe.

Opposition leaders like Joice Mujuru of Zimbabwe People First, Dumiso Dabengwa of Zapu, Morgan Tsvangirai and Welshman Ncube of the Movement for Democratic Change formations are also expected to give their independence day speeches to the nation.

Mugabe’s speech from National Sports Stadium will be broadcasted live on ZBC TV and national radios.

There will be many other celebrations led by Zanu PF officials in different provinces.

This comes at a time when Zanu PF is now firmly divided into two rival factions; Team Lacoste and G40, pushing for the ascendancy of Emmerson Mnangagwa and Grace Mugabe respectively to the county’s top job when president Mugabe retires in the near future.
