South Africa: Limpopo traffic officials have arrested a Zimbabwean commuter bus driver who was driving an overloaded taxi with passengers with illegal documents.
Traffic spokesperson Joshua Kwapa says the taxi driver was intercepted at Mokopane on his way to Johannesburg.
Kwapa says immigration officials are processing the illegal passengers.
“Mokopane provincial traffic police have arrested a Zimbabwean national who was travelling from Zimbabwe heading to Johannesburg. He was travelling in a mini bus combi with 31 passengers, 14 of which had no legal documents to be in the country,” adds Kwapa.
“We have roped in home affairs; the immigration people are currently processing these illegal immigrants. The driver is detained at Mokopane police station, we would want to emphasise that foreign nationals on our roads illegally we will take serious actions against them.”
